When
Buddhism arrived in Tibet 1200 years ago with Guru Padmasambava,
Bön was the dominant religion in both Tibet and
Central Asia.
It was a powerful, wild, mystical and religious practice
which had flourished there for over 10’000 years.
The search for compassion and wisdom is the same in
Buddhism and Bön and His Holiness the Dalai Lama
has acknowledged the importance of Bön in defining
Tibetan culture.
The fifth Dalai Lama once said that he was Buddhist
by nature, but Bön by heart. |
